Subscriber

Introduction

Joy Subscriptions Analytics is split into two dashboards:

  • Performance — Tracks business metrics: revenue, orders, and subscription counts. Use this to understand how your subscription business is doing financially and operationally.
  • Subscriber — Tracks people metrics: subscriber behavior, retention, lifetime value, and churn. Use this to understand who your subscribers are and how they behave over time.

You can switch between the two dashboards using the dropdown at the top of the Analytics page.

This guide covers the Subscriber dashboard. For business-level analytics, see the Performance dashboard guide.

Subscriber is split into four tabs:

  • Overview — A one-screen health check of your subscriber base: active subscribers, average value, churn, and net growth.
  • Retention — What percentage of each month's new subscribers stay active over time, and where they drop off.
  • LTV (Lifetime Value) — How much cumulative revenue each subscriber generates over their lifetime.
  • Churn — The subscribers and recurring revenue you lose, split by active, passive, and expired churn.

Each tab shows overview cards with key numbers at the top, followed by detailed charts and tables below. You can filter by date range to drill into the period that matters most.

How to use Subscriber

Step 1: Go to Joy Subscriptions → Analytics.

Step 2: Select Subscriber from the page title dropdown at the top of the page.

Step 3: Use the date range filter to select your reporting period. Every card and chart updates to reflect the range you select, and compares it against the previous period.

Step 4: Switch between the Overview, Retention, LTV, and Churn tabs to explore different aspects of your subscriber base.

What you can learn from each tab

TabKey questions it answers
OverviewHow many active subscribers do I have? How valuable is each one? Am I growing or shrinking on balance?
RetentionOnce someone subscribes, how long do they stay? Which month is my biggest drop-off point?
LTVHow much revenue does a subscriber generate over time? Is my acquisition cost worth it?
ChurnHow many subscribers and how much MRR am I losing — and was it a cancellation, a failed payment, or an expiry?

For detailed metric explanations, see the individual guides for each tab:

  • Overview metrics
  • Retention metrics
  • LTV metrics
  • Churn metrics

Overall

The Subscriber dashboard is where you understand the people behind the numbers. Start with Overview for a daily health check, then dive into Retention, LTV, and Churn to understand how your subscribers behave, how much they're worth, and why some of them leave — so you can keep more of them, longer.
